Dallas Stars Goalie Marty Turco to Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday
During Free Event at Half Price Books
Children Attending to Receive Marty’s Autographed Photo Card and a “Dr. Seuss” Hat

What:		Half Price Books will welcome Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco to read stories and talk with Dallas-area children. Children attending this free event will receive a “Cat in the Hat” striped hat and an autographed Marty Turco card, while supplies last. Kids are encouraged to bring in a new or gently-used children’s book for the Half Pint Library book drive, which benefits Our Children’s House at Baylor. Sunday, March 2 (Dr. Seuss’s 104th birthday anniversary) from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.

The Half Pint Library is Half Price Books 10th annual national Book Drive. More than 2 million books have been donated nationwide since 1998, creating hundreds of Half Pint Libraries in hospitals, community centers and special-needs schools throughout the United States. In Dallas, more than 250,000 books have been donated since the program began, providing books for many of the patients at Our Children’s House at Baylor Hospital, among others.

Sunday, March 2, 2008 is the 104th birthday anniversary of Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel), beloved children’s book author and cartoonist known for his rhyming texts and outlandish characters including the Grinch and the Cat in the Hat.

Marty Turco, famed goaltender for the Dallas Stars hockey team, is the spokesperson for “Stick with Reading,” an initiative of the Dallas Stars Foundation sponsored by Half Price Books.
