| What | As a part of its African American History Month celebration, Half Price Books will host the Rev. Peter Johnson who will be discussing his personal involvement in the Civil Rights Movement and its relevance to the past, present and future of African Americans. Rev. Johnson, a Dallas resident since the 1960's, will speak, host a question and answer session and be on-hand to talk to the public during this free event. All are encouraged to attend. | |

About the Rev. Peter Johnson
Rev. Johnson was recruited to join the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) as a National Student Organizer and Strategist in the Southern States. He was a confidante of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and was present at all of the history-changing events of the 60s and 70s including the Poor People's Campaign and the March on Washington. Rev. Johnson is still involved in the Human Rights movement and is known for his continued work against hand guns, 'Get Out To Vote', public housing and medical rights among disenfranchised Americans. Mr. Johnson has received local, state and national recognition for his work. Mr. Johnson is currently working on a book titled "Outside Agitator" set for release in 2007. He and his wife Delores live in Dallas. |
