CONTEST RULES
|

Every year Half Price Books holds a Bedtime Storybook Contest open to creative writers of all ages. Annually, we receive thousands of entries from talented people across the United States. Twenty outstanding entries are chosen for publication and matched up with beautiful, four-color illustrations, provided by professional and student illustrators. Both the storybook and the writing contest were developed to encourage interest in literacy and to support family literacy programs across the country.

OFFICIAL RULES
- Employees of Half Price Books and The Texas Bookman, or any Half Price Books agents or affiliates thereof are not eligible to enter.
- Entries will be judged on quality and content by a panel of judges to be coordinated and overseen by staff members of Half Price Books. Decision of the judges is final.
- Winners will be notified by March 1, 2007.
- Winners agree that Half Price Books has the right to publish their story in a book.
- Half Price Books is not responsible for lost entries.
- Prizes are non-transferable, and no substitutions are allowed.
- Winner must sign an affidavit of eligibility and release within 21 days of the awarding of the prize.

FORMAT FOR ENTRIES
- Stories should appeal to children ages eight (8) and under.
- Stories should be no longer than 300 words and previously unpublished, original work.
- Poems should be no longer than 50 lines and previously unpublished, original work.
- Each entrant can submit no more than three (3) entries.
- All entries must be typed and include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address (if applicable).
- Mailed entries that do not include contact information will be automatically disqualified.
- Entries must be received or postmarked between October 1, 2006 and December 1, 2006.
- Entries will not be returned. Send duplicates only.

PRIZES AWARDED
- GRAND PRIZE $200 gift card from Half Price Books.
- 2nd PLACE PRIZE $100 gift card from Half Price Books.
- 3rd PLACE PRIZE $50 gift card from Half Price Books.
- FINALISTS PRIZES $20 gift card from Half Price Books.

PUBLICATION
- Half Price Books will publish a book containing all of the finalists' bedtime stories.
