HALF PRICE BOOKS LAUNCHES BECOMEGREEN.INFO
Company launches Web site in support of Earth Day awareness

DALLAS (April 3, 2007)— Half Price Books, the nation's largest family-owned new and used bookstore chain, has launched a Web site designed to help spread the knowledge about how individuals can help impact the health of our environment through everyday choices. The new site is located at http://www.becomegreen.info.

The content-rich site features information about how individuals can make small changes with big impacts, links to relevant news articles, definitions of words describing the environment and surrounding issues, a customized and focused search engine, as well as links to environmental sites, organizations and books.

"Half Price Books wants to give the public a way to learn more about how their actions can have a huge impact on our environment," said Kathy Doyle Thomas, executive vice president of Half Price Books. "Many people are completely surprised to find out that even small changes can have an enormous cumulative effect."

Half Price Books has long been a supporter of the environment, even going so far as to include "be kind to the environment" in the company's official mission statement. The foundation for the Half Price Books commitment to educating customers about environmental issues was modeled by Pat Anderson and Ken Gjemre, who founded the company 35 years ago.
