Half Price Books Opens Burleson Store

Dallas (October 22, 2007) Half Price Books, the nation's largest family-owned new and used bookstore chain, will open a new location in Burleson on November 8 at 12616 South Freeway. As part of its grand opening activities, Horticulturist Neil Sperry will answer questions and sign books from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 11. A longtime radio personality, author and photographer, Sperry's name has been synonymous with Texas gardening and nature for more than 35 years. Grand opening activities will kick off at 9 a.m., Thursday, November 8 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first 100 customers through the door Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday will receive special Half Price Books tote bags containing $5 gift cards and every day one lucky customer will receive a gift card worth $250. The new store occupies 8,500 square feet, and is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Half Price Books employs 160 in Tarrant County and maintains seven Fort Worth area retail locations. The company opened its first Fort Worth store in 1973. "The support of this community has allowed us to grow and expand in order to offer our customers even more access to our unique merchandise mix than ever before," said Kathy Doyle Thomas, executive vice president of Half Price Books. "Our stores are distinctive in that we offer a different inventory than other major retail booksellers because our customers sell directly to us. Many items simply aren't available in other bookstores."
